CAUGHT OUR EYE
For decades, an indigenous group in northern Colombia have knit by hand a bag that bears their name but  have now become part of the country's wider tradition: la mochila Wayúu. Verdi's version replaces cotton and magüey with plantain and metals, which give them an unexpected sheen —this model in particular features an intricate pineapple pattern using nothing but gold-plated copper threads.

Each bucket bag is woven by hand by a master craftsperson —and it takes them close to four days to finish one. So, while you are indeed buying a product that will endure the test of time, make sure you honor the time it took to bring it to life, and care for it accordingly.
